Who is your perfect match?
The last few weeks I’ve been talking about who your target market is (I know I’ve been going on about it, but it’s so important!).
I’m going to share how I came up with my target market.
About 12 months ago, I took a good hard look at who my target market is, or lack of. There was a natural progression over the last 5 years, my broad target market started to slowly narrow – and even continues to. I’m forever learning who that target market is.
I set myself a project, I created an avatar of who my ideal customer is. This now ensures that everything I do will appeal to them.
Just remember,your avatar needs to be very specific. An avatar is a written personification of your ideal customer, it could include;
- Age
- Sex
- Health
- Hobbies
- Employment/profession
- Race
- Emotions
- Experience
- Expertise
- Demographics
- Earnings
- Relationship status
- Family details
- And more!
By creating your avatar as early as possible in your business, you can ensure your branding is attracting the right people. Knowing what keeps them awake at night, their wants and needs makes the whole branding and direct marketing so much easier – ask yourself, does your brand appeal to your audience? How can you make it relevant to them? Your customers will start to ‘self-select’.
Challenge: Create your own avatar today. No matter what stage your business is at, have a go. Share your Avatar with your designer, they will love you for it! And you will love the final results your graphic designer puts forward. The process will not only become easier, you will start attracting the right client for you.
